Book Prize Alert!!!!
Monday is the last day to buy a raffle ticket for 20p OR to get a free ticket with every book you take out from the mobile library. A box set of the complete Harry Potter series is our first prize in the raffle and there is a copy of So This Is Love and After the Rain to be won - with chocolate!!! The draw will now take place on Tuesday 20th July - good luck. Thank you to our fabulous Year 10 student librarians, Nikita and Rebecca for suggesting this raffle and choosing the prizes. Library Lessons In our final set of library lessons this academic year, Year 7 students have been enjoying listen to Foyle judges giving their 'top tips' on how to write an attention grabbing poem. Students have been exploring their writer identity and have amazed us with the fantasy worlds they have created. During this round of library lessons their writer's journals have been filling up with writing they can come back and work on! Students have taken poems away to work on revising and redrafting them so they have polished poems to submit to the competition. Mobile Library Terry the mobile library trolley will be out and about as usual during this final week of term. You can take a book out and keep it to read over the summer holiday. Remember you can take more than one book out at a time! The Pop Up Revision Book Shop will be back in September. Students can browse our range of discounted revision guides and if you bring cash you can buy revision guides on the day. Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 will find the mobile library in the breakout areas during Inspire time with an enticing selection of reading materials! Year 7 get extra visits at lunchtimes! Remember, if there is anything you would like to see in the library, please let me know in person, by email or use the google form on Satchel. Happy reading! |
WoW and Reading Challenge Our word of the week is 'feature'.
Characters in books are amazing for the different features that writers give them. Is your favourite character wise, smart, fun, lovable, curious, bad, brave, kind, inspiring . . . Our Reading Challenge this week is to recommend to a friend a book that has a character who has an amazing feature, that is an important or noticeable characteristic. |
